Farewell to my studio buddy, Simba

Simba in 2012
Things have been very quiet in the studio these past 4 weeks because I lost my studio buddy on February 27. Simba was a loving, intense ruddy Abyssinian who was almost always in the studio when I was. He had a sometimes irritating habit of wanting to sit in my lap while trying to paint. He didn't sit quietly - oh no. He wanted hugs and love and attention and I am very sorry to say I didn't always give him the lovin' when he wanted it. I would be in the middle of doing something critical and I would have to put him in his kitty bed until I finished. Now I would give anything to have him "bother" me for some hugs and attention again, even if I was in the middle of painting the eyes on a Micro Mini. I would drop everything to have just one more minute of his love.

Cancer is horrible, even more so when it happens to a furry loved one that you cannot explain to them what is happening.

I will always love you, Simba, and I will always remember and feel your love every time I step foot in my studio. You are now and forever will be my Studio Angel.

I'm so sorry to hear about Simba, he was very beautiful. I had to smile reading about his needing love while you were in the studio; I have a cat just like that too. Most times she is quite content to do her own thing around the house, but if I'm in my studio it's almost a guarantee that she will show up and NEED love. I usually try and indulge her, but sometimes I push her away, because I'm "busy". Thank you for the reminder that our time with them is short, shorter than we realize. ((hugs))
